Manuel Tavarez Mesa, 82, peacefully passed away June 16th. He was a native of Fort Collins. He was born July 13, 1927 to Herminio and Maria Martinez Tavarez Guerrero and raised by his grandparents, Joe and Gavina Mesa. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a WWII Veteran. He married Hermelinda Olivares on February 26, 1949. Together they raised their four children, Gloria Snider Bill, twins Jimmy and Joe, Manuel Jr. Kathi and Suzanna Mercado Lou. He is survived by four sisters; Isabelle, Beatrice, Mona, and Virgina Gina, four brothers; Elmer, Jesse Big Wes, Lupe and Pete. He dearly loved his nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Manuel was a retired brick mason and also retired from CSU. He was a life member of the VFW and active member in the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Elks Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife, brothers, Benny, Davey, Johnny, Manuel, and a sister, Rosie. He will be missed by all who knew him. A Rosary will be held, Monday, 7 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday, 10 a.m. also at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment with Military Honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
