Lyndell Schwartz passed away on Monday, January 19, at the age of 79, following complications related to a medical condition. She spent her final days surrounded by love and support.
Lyndell dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She served her community and country in the armed forces. As a physical therapist, she spent much of her career working within the Las Vegas school system, supporting children, and helping them build strength, confidence, and independence. Her work reflected who she was at her core: compassionate, patient, and deeply committed to the well-being of others.
Lyndell valued staying informed and engaged with the world around her and believed deeply in thoughtful dialogue and the importance of the common good. She held a steadfast belief that everyone deserves respect, dignity, and opportunity, and she lived those principles through empathy, fairness, and an enduring concern for her community.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Schwartz; her daughters, Heather Novak and Maegan Schwartz; her sons-in-law Rob Novak and Chris Conrad; her grandchild, Jack Novak; her siblings, Mark Jenkins, David Jenkins, and Merri Neiwart; her many nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Bonita Weiss. She was a loving presence in their lives and will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to National Public Radio in Lyndell's honor.
A celebration of Lyndell's life will be held 2:30 pm, Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
