Lulu (Lou) Taylor, 86, died peacefully February 3, 2021 at Columbine West Health and Rehab Center in Fort Collins from advanced dementia.
Lulu was born on April 7, 1934, to Ruby Ellen and John George Rostek, at their LaPorte Avenue home in Fort Collins, CO. She was the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings, Melvina Rostek Applebee, John Edward Rostek and Rose Marie Rostek Hopkins preceded her in death.
Lulu was a lively and happy child in spite of family struggles including the death of her father when she was only 8 years old. Throughout her life she maintained a positive outlook and liked to have fun even in tough circumstances. Her strong belief in God and feisty personality helped her not only survive but enjoy a long life.
Lou graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1952 and had fond memories of her time as a Lambkin.
Lou married Rev. Dan L Taylor in 1953 while attending Southwestern Bible College in Texas. They moved to Wyoming and began a 46-year partnership in marriage, ministry and travel. Together they built a family with the birth of Teresa Lynn and Jennifer Jean while Dan also built several churches. Lou played the piano and organ, taught Sunday School classes and Children's church, started and managed a day care center, and organized many celebrations and events at the 5 churches Dan served as senior pastor.
Lou enjoyed traveling and most often talked about a mission trip around the world in 1984. The congregation of Foothills Assembly of God church in Fort Collins gave Dan and Lou the trip to show appreciation for 15 years of ministry. Meeting Mother Teresa was one of many impactful experiences Lou often recounted from the trip. Lou and Dan went on other trips to Israel, Mexico as well as driving around most of America in their pickup and camper.
After Dan's death in 1999, Lou married Warren Muse whom she knew from church. After Warren died, Lou married Ron Day, a classmate from Fort Collins High school and they enjoyed an active social life at Timberline Church and with their high school reunion group for several years until her disease worsened.
Lou will be remembered for her strong Christian beliefs, sense of curiosity, love of fun and lightheartedness and her sense of style.
She leaves behind many friends and family including Ron Day, daughters Teresa Lynne Baker and Jennifer Jean Winterfeld, grandchildren, Kimberly Rae Rubio, Chantal Jolynn McCarthy, Caitlin Taylor Winterfeld and Rachel Amanda Winterfeld; nieces Sandra (Applebee) VanGerpen, Sharon (Rostek) Ross and Cathy (Rostek) Sonnes, great grandchildren Dillinger Loffer, Spencer Loffer, Kiram Rudio, Addison Imig, Everly Imig and Great-Great Granddaughter, Victoria Loffer.
