Luella Mae Smith was born in Missouri on September 15, 1932 during the depression era. After living nine decades and battling Alzheimer's over the last few years, Luella went to sleep in the Lord on July 7, 2025, leaving behind her husband Lyle, two children, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She knew hard times and hard work. She was the oldest of three girls and was stubborn enough to outlive them both. Her family moved from Missouri to Iowa where she graduated high school and met her soon to be husband Lyle Smith. They were married for 72 years. They had four children, Brenda Gayle, (1954-1971), Gary Lyle Smith (1955- 2001), Marvin Alan Smith (1958), and Melissa Dawn Thrush (1961).
Luella moved to Colorado in 1966 with her family where she lived, worked and played for many a good long year until she took her rest. She worked hard for thirty years here in Fort Collins. Ten were spent at Teledyne Waterpik and twenty at Hewlett Packard. She retired in 1996 and enjoyed spending more time with her husband and family.
She loved spending time with her church family. She always had a big smile on her face when she'd get to see her friends at church and at monthly birthday dinner gatherings. It was one of her favorite things. That, and listening to Lyle sing and play his guitar. She loved to hear him play. She especially loved to hear him play at church. She was so proud of her man. Singing and playing for the Lord.
Luella was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Luella loved her Lord and was a faithful Seventh-day Adventist.
