Louie M. Ortivez, 89 of Fort Collins entered into eternal rest on January 1, 2025.
Mr. Ortivez was born April 9, 1935 in Red Wing, Colorado to Mariano and Adela Ortivez. He married Della Chavez on February 27, 1954 in Fort Collins and celebrated 67 years of marriage. Mr. Ortivez was a member and retiree of the Iron Workers Local Union # 24 since September 1, 1957. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Mr. Ortivez is survived by his two daughters, Annette Rivas of Greeley, Colorado and Jeannette (Paul) Fry of Adams, Nebraska. Grandchildren Abe Rivas, Jr., Andrew Rivas, Adrian Rivas, Matte Fry of Adams, Nebraska and Taylor Ortivez of Fort Collins. Ten great grandchldren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Nephews Darrell Ortivez, Louie Salazar, Michael Chavez, Patrick Chavez, Pete Chavez and Greg Chavez; Nieces Christina Hudson, Rita Cisneros, Terry Garner and Bernadette Sholl, Marquerite Borth and Lupy Ramirez. Sister-in-law Carmen Chavez.
Mr. Ortivez is preceded in death by his wife, Della, his son, Larry; his parents and brothers Gilbert, Rufus, Jim and sister Margie.
A rosary will be held at 9:30 am with a funeral mass to follow at 10 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
