Lorraine Foster, 89, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, July 30, 2006. Her birthplace was Payne County, Okla. The second child of Grace and Crestus Payne, she was born in April 1916. Her elder sister Marian Lance preceded her in death. A younger sister Maurine Snyder and husband E.B. reside in Reno, Nev. When she was 8, Lorraine's father died, and her maternal grandfather helped relocate the family to Edmond, Okla., where all three sisters were able to receive their education and where Lorraine attended college. She was an outstanding student, excelling in music. She and JB Foster met while in college and were married in February 1937. During the war years, she and JB worked in Wichita, Kan., for Beech Aircraft, afterward returning to Shawnee, Okla. In 1945 they opened Foster Welding Supplies, continuing with that business till 1953 when they moved with their two sons, Michael and Jim, to a farm north of Wellington. Mrs. Foster remained in her home on the farm till her passing. After several years farming, Lorraine and JB started JB Foster Construction, providing excavation services for natural gas installations in various communities along the Front Range. She acted as partner and manager with her husband and later helped manage JB Foster Realty. Mrs. Foster also owned and operated Safety Flasher & Equipment Inc. well into her 70s. For many years she and JB raised and raced registered quarter horses. JB passed away in 2003; their son Mike in 1980. Surviving son Jim Foster and wife Sue reside in Waverly. Their son Mike's children are Stephen Foster, wife Monica and family; and Spencer Foster, all residing in California. Scott Foster and wife Lauren and family live in Lubbock, Texas. Grandson John Foster lives in Dallas, Texas, and granddaughter Shelley Aibner in Rifle. Lorraine and JB were blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. Additional family are three nieces, two nephews and their children. Lorraine and JB shared a strong faith and over the years worshipped with Church of Christ congregations in Fort Collins, Cheyenne and Bellvue. Neighbors and friends are invited for a memorial service to be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, memory contributions may be made to Mountain States Children's Home Longmont, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
