Lorraine Eleanora Elizabeth (Bobsin) Schipper, 89 of Fort Collins, CO passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Peace with Christ Lutheran Church, 1412 W. Swallow Rd, Fort Collins. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at the church Columbarium.

Lorraine was born on August 14, 1926 in Wood Lake, Minnesota to Luis and Emma Bobsin. She moved to Atascadero, California when she was five years old with her parents and older brother, Lloyd. Lorraine graduated from Atascadero Union High School in 1944 and began the first of her accounting jobs as a bank teller at the Bank of America.

Lorraine met her future husband, Dean Schipper, at a Columbus Day Dance on October 12, 1951 and they were engaged two weeks later. After getting married on March 2, 1952 in Paso Robles, CA, the newlyweds moved to Billings, Montana. Dean's job took the couple to Nebraska where their three children, Tim, Karen and Judy were born. The family moved numerous times between 1955 and 1976 to follow Dean's sales career. Lorraine played a key role in all the moves by selling the old house, packing up and supervising the move to the new house and city. They moved in 1976 to Fort Collins, CO where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Lorraine held various accounting jobs during the early years of their marriage and stayed at home raising the children until 1973. She especially enjoyed her jobs at the Windsor Elevator and Ranch Way Feeds in Fort Collins until she retired.

Lorraine took great pride in being "grandma" to all and could frequently be seen on the sidelines, bleachers and in auditoriums during her grandchildren's sporting events and performances. During the last few years, she became "GiGi" after her great-grandchildren arrived.

Perhaps the most important part of Lorraine's life was her faith in God; she was assured that she was going to heaven at the end of her time on earth. As a life-long Lutheran, she not only ensured her family attended church regularly, she was participated in church activities wherever they lived. She loved music and played the piano and organ for church services and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and enjoyed being a "Greeter" to welcome members and guests into church on Sunday's mornings. Until just recently, she visited the "elderly and shut-ins" as part of the visiting angels program at Peace with Christ.

Lorraine very seldom complained about anything and always saw the glass half full in any situation. Her love of life and optimistic attitude continued no matter what challenge God placed in front of her. Her familiar "I'm fine" was a testament to her belief that things could be a lot worse and she told everyone that she had lived a good life.

The Rockies and Broncos just lost a devoted fan as Lorraine loved cheering for "her teams". She even wanted to know who was pitching for the Rockies the day before she died and was sorely disappointed than no one in the room knew! She also enjoyed her luncheons with the "Red Hat" ladies and was a member of the Aspen Club and the Attack Pack Backers.

Lorraine is survived by her children; Tim (Heather) Schipper of Wilmington, DE, Karen (Mel) Carlson of Windsor, CO and Judy Dahlgren of Fort Collins, CO. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Joshua Schipper, Ashley (Matt) Chernak, Eric (Natalie) Whitehead, Morgan (Cliff) Moore, Justin Lehman, Kyle Lehman, Tyler Lehman and Corey Dahlgren. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren, her sister-in-laws, Pat Schipper and Clydean Bobsin, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents and her brother.
