Loretha "Lori" Stacy Plemmons, wife, mother and grandmother, was born at home, on Dec. 29, 1922, in Comanche County, near Lawton, Okla. According to her diaries, it was a cold night, and her father, Archie William Stacy, and the men chopped wood, while Grandmother Roberson and the women tended to her mother, Hattie Florence Roberson Stacy. Lori attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla., and worked in a shipyard in Richmond, Calif., during World War II. On May 15, 1944, she married her childhood sweetheart, Buford Plemmons, at the Holy City Chapel, Lawton, Okla., while he was home on leave. In 1947, they migrated to Colorado, living first in Rye, where she taught shorthand and typing; Swink 1950, where she tutored Iranian students attending Otero Junior College; and Haxtun 1959, where she worked as a nurse aide. In 1966, they moved to Fort Collins where she worked at Poudre Valley Hospital as a medical records technician. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Chapter FM of the PEO Sisterhood and many other organizations. She is honored and loved by her family and friends, including husband, friend and sweetheart of 83 years, Buford Plemmons; daughter, Rita Ann Bee; son and daughter-in-law Stacy and Nancy Plemmons, all of Fort Collins, and son and daughter-in-law, Kerry and Gail Plemmons of Denver; grandchildren, Beth Bee of State College, Pa., Kelly Bee of Denver, Laura Rickoff of Boulder, Kris Plemmons of Breckenridge and Ryan Plemmons of Denver; and her sister, Imogene Taliferro, of Lawton, Okla. On Aug. 5, 2005, in her diary she said "For the first time I dreamed of Heaven. It was so vivid - as I entered Heaven there was my mother, dad and sister Avis Stacy Cranfield waiting for me. What a glorious reunion it was!" A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 1005 Stover St., followed by a private family burial Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, PEO Chapter FM, or Kiwanis Poudre Golden K, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524, who are handling all arrangements.
