Lorene H. Briggs passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016. Lorene was born on October 2, 1920, to Carl and Anna Hart, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She was raised with 3 brothers on an Iowa farm, attending country schools and graduating from Shenandoah High School in 1938. After high school, she worked several years as a stenographer for Earl May Seed and Nursery Company where she met and married Robert W. Briggs in 1941. After WWII, they moved to LaJunta, CO for a short time then returned to Shenandoah where they owned and operated a Zesto soft ice cream shop for over 30 years and raised their two daughters. They retired and relocated to Ft. Collins, CO in 1977 to be near both of their daughters.

Lorene enjoyed family and friends, gardening, canning, baking, and was an excellent seamstress. In recent years she enjoyed sewing quilt tops for the Christ Center Outreach Center as well as making personal quilts. She was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Collins.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers (Stanley Hart & Russell Hart) and one daughter (Barbara Giertz), and one nephew. She is survived by one daughter, Mary Louise Gallatin (Sherman) of Ft. Collins, CO; two grandchildren, John Gallatin (Amanda) of Sheridan, WY, and Suzanne Peter (Aren) of Greeley, CO; one brother, Wesley Hart (Delores) of Shenandoah, IA, nine nephews and extended family mostly from the Midwest.

A small graveside service is planned: Ft. Collins Grandview Cemetery, Saturday, April 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Steve Harris to officiate.
