Listen to Obituary
Elmer Robert Marquez, 86, was born on August 13, 1939, in Del Norte, Colorado, and passed away on February 6, 2026, at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming.

Elmer was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. A faithful Catholic man with a generous heart, he was known for his charm, quick wit, and outgoing personality. He had a big heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a natural ability to make others feel valued and welcome. Those who knew him would say he was always giving and willing to help, asking nothing in return.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army and spent many years serving in the National Guard, a role he held with great pride. His faith was central to his life. Elmer was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fort Collins, where he served a term as Principal of Catechism, helping guide and mentor young people in their faith.

A self-taught and very successful businessman, Elmer owned several businesses throughout his life. His strong work ethic and determination shaped not only his career but the example he set for his family.

More than any professional accomplishment, Elmer's greatest pride was his family. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events and performances, cheering them on enthusiastically. He treasured time spent traveling, watching baseball, antique shopping, and spending time in the mountains he loved so much. He was also known for having the cleanest car around and perfectly kept lawns — small reflections of the pride he took in everything he did.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Lorella Marquez; his sons, Robert Marquez and Rodney Marquez; his daughter, Bev Marquez; his daughters-in-law, Lisa Marquez and Kirby Marquez; his grandchildren, Valerie, Amanda, Ashlee, Kendell, Alec, Austin, and Conley; and six great-grandchildren, with two more expected in August. He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Garcia and Alivine Martinez; his brother, Danny Marquez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Mary Marquez; his brother, Phil Marquez Jr.; his brother, Raymond Marquez; and his sister, Dorothy Lujan.

Elmer's life will be celebrated in the spring at one of his favorite scenic mountain places, a setting that reflects his love for Colorado's natural beauty.

Elmer will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering faith, and profound love for his family.

Lorella Mae Marquez was born on April 16, 1941, in Trinidad, Colorado, to Alfred and Edna (Martinez) Montoya. She recently celebrated her 85th birthday surrounded by family—a moment that reflected the deep love and connection that defined her life.

In October 2025, Lorella was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and entered hospice care with Pathways. Her wish was to remain in her home, comfortable and free from pain. With gratitude and peace, her family shares that her wish was honored.

Lorella was one of six children and lived a life centered on family—as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She married the love of her life, Elmer Marquez, who preceded her in death on February 6, 2026. Their life together was one of deep partnership and shared devotion to family.

An entrepreneur at heart, Lorella owned and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetics studio in Greeley, Colorado, where she built not only a business but lasting relationships. In recognition of her work and leadership, she was honored with the Entrepreneur Award from the Hispanic Women of Weld County.

She was also a dedicated runner for over 35 years and a passionate fan of the Denver Broncos.

Lorella will be remembered as a loyal friend and trusted confidant, known for her wit, her strong sense of style, and her attention to detail—whether it was her clothing, a clean car, or the perfect shade of lipstick. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. Her children were her favorite subject, and to know her was to hear stories filled with pride and love for them.

She also had a deep love for music and dancing, and found joy in life's simple beauty—especially roses and her favorite song, "The Rose."

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Lisa) Marquez and Rod (Kirby) Marquez; her daughter, Bev Marquez; and her cherished grandchildren, Valerie, Amanda (Matt), Ashlee (Malachi), Kendell (Cole), Alec (Sinopah), Austin (Rayshawne), and Conley (Josh). She was a proud great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren and was overjoyed to learn at Christmas that two more great-grandsons are expected in July and August.

Lorella is also survived by her siblings, Alfred (Rosella) Montoya and Charlotte (Sabino) Jimenez; her sisters-in-law, Pat Trujillo, Shirley (Gene) Garcia, Alivine Martinez, and Danny Marquez; along with many beloved, cousins ,nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Marquez; her parents, Alfred Montoya and Edna Lujan; her brother, Rueben Romero; her sisters, Laura Archibeque and Geraldine Martinez; her brother, Toby Trujillo; and many extended family members who were dear to her.

Lorella raised her family in Fort Collins, Colorado, where she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was active in the Sertoma Club.

Due to family illness the celebration of life will be held at a later date.
