Lonnie Gene Knittle was born on May 29, 1949 in Greeley, Colorado to Marvin Eugene Knittle and Josephine Ester Knittle Haynes. He loved working with his dad growing up, and often told stories of their adventures with his brother, Tony living in the house their dad built in Golden. He had countless stories about all of his other siblings, Rocky, Jody, Tammy, and Desiree. He graduated from Golden High School in 1967. On a scholarship, he attended Colorado State University where he obtained a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work at Kodak as a Mechanical Engineer for just over 30 years. Though they grew up together, Lonnie and Linda started dating after she attended his high school graduation. They were married in 1969 in Denver, Colorado. In 1970 he became a proud father to a son, Mark. In 1973 he was blessed with a daughter, Tawnia. He lived in the same house in Fort Collins for the majority of his married life. He had many hobbies including RC airplanes and helicopters, hunting, water skiing, woodworking, leather working, and he got a pilot license for sailplanes. He loved to create things and show them off to his family. Lonnie was the one that people turned to when they had a question about anything. He always helped anyone who needed it and taught his son the same. He was the most patient man in the world. Lonnie became a happy grandfather in 1989 to his first grandson, Devin. Five more grandkids followed Jessica in 1991, Brittni in 1993, Marqis in 1993, Aidan in 2011, and Maddox in 2013. His Grandkids all loved to be around him. He loved to teach them and spend time with them. He became a Great Grandpa in 2013 to Carter. Lonnie is survived by his wife, son, daughter, Mother, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by everyone that he touched with his life. He is the best.
