Lola Summers

Lola Irene Summers, 81 beloved wife of 65 years to Cecil Summers, died on Jan. 17, 2006, at Blue Grouse Nursing home in Fort Collins after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Lamar on Nov. 24, 1924, she was the daughter of Frank and Edna Clark. She graduated from Eads High School in Eads. She married Cecil Summers on Oct. 27, 1940, in Sharon Springs, Kan. They moved to Fort Collins in 1948 and started Summer's Auto Repair. Lola worked for Sargent's Upholstery and also worked for Teledyne Aquatech. Lola was an active person who enjoyed playing cards, bowling, reading, sewing and crafting, and the outdoors where she taught her grandkids to fish. She and Cecil enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the Buckhorn Canyon which their family built together. Lola is survived by her loving husband, Cecil Summers, both of her children, Jerry Summers and wife, Pat, of Fort Collins, Janice Summers, of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren, Gary Summers and Jill Mann Doug, both of Fort Collins; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney Mann and Amanda and Spencer Summers. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Ralph Clark. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Pastor Paul McGraw will be officiating at the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Blue Grouse Alzheimer's Unit, in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
