Our beautiful mom, Lilalee Gallagher Morris, passed away on June 2, 2023, embraced in the love of her family. She was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 8, 1924 in a little house on Magnolia Street to Peter and Mabel Gallagher. She attended Laporte Avenue School and then when the family moved to Howes Street, she attended Lincoln Junior High School and Fort Collins High School.
She married Meredith J. Morris on December 18, 1948 and they soon moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma, where Meredith worked on his PHD and their first child, Annmarie, was born in 1952. When Ann was a year old, they moved to Tennessee, where their second child, Christopher, was born. Their third child, Theresa was born in Maryland in 1955. Another move took them to Utah, where their last child, Eric was born in 1960.
Mom was happy to learn that they would be moving, finally, back to Fort Collins, in 1961. Through all of the years and moves, while mom made friends and a home wherever we lived, Fort Collins was always home.
She loved to sing and was a member of the choir at St. Luke's Episcopal Church and also sang in the Fort Collins Community Choir. She was a talented artist and seamstress, loved to garden, bowl and play bridge.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy and she loved to share photos and their accomplishments. She was a wonderful friend to all and a much loved volunteer for the RSVP food delivery program.
We were blessed to have her love, her generosity, her sense of humor and her kindness for 99 years. Even in her final days, her thoughts were of her family. She is survived and missed by her children, Annmarie King (Ken), Christopher Morris, Theresa Myers (Duane) and Eric Morris: her grandchildren, Addie Spahr Kim,(Andrew) Aryn Spahr (Michele), Elizabeth Messenger (Brian), Marcus Myers and Eamonn and Teague Morris and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mabel Gallagher, her sister, Juanita Cummings and her husband of 52 years, Meredith Morris.
