Lila Jean Stewart, 85, of Longmont died August 1, 2018 from the effects of dementia.
She was born in Weld County August 11, 1932 to Gottlieb and Winnie Bohlender. She married William G. (Bill) Stewart who once was manager at Greeley radio station KFKA. The couple moved to Longmont in 1959 upon purchasing radio station KLMO which they operated until retiring. The Stewarts were well known for philanthropic activities in Longmont, including substantial funding of the auditorium that bears their name at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center. They also were generous supporters of the athletic department at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the TLC-Learning Center for typical and special needs students in Longmont.
Surviving Lila Jean is one of three brothers, Jim, of Holyoke, Colorado. Nephew Rod Bohlender survives in Amarillo, TX. Daughter Linda Jean (Stewart) Stennette of Estes Park died in 2009 and William Stewart died in 2012.
A service is scheduled Saturday, August 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the Longmont Museum and Cultural Center. Lila Jean's cremains have been interred with those of her husband and daughter at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley.
