Listen to Obituary
Leslie Clair Charvat Sr., 77, was born Feb. 11, 1928. He left us to be with the Lord and eternal happiness on Oct. 11, 2005. Leslie was born in Fort Collins where he lived and worked in his father's grocery store. He attended Fort Collins High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1946. He was stationed in Guam and was an aerial photographer. Les returned to the family business and married the love of his life, Jean Fidino, on Aug. 23, 1950. His kind heart and caring attitude was shared with everyone that shopped at Charvat's Grocery until it was closed in 1977. He then went on to share more of his qualities in his ceramic tile business. He retired in 1990. In his short but wonderful time with us, Les enjoyed many hobbies which include fishing, tying flies, hunting, coaching, shooting sports, camping and was an excellent bowler. All of his hobbies and qualities were most enjoyed when he was sharing and teaching them with family and friends. He is the greatest man we will ever know and will be missed by the many, many people who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is survived by his wife, Jean Charvat; sister, Marty Weathers; children, Leslie Junior Charvat and fiancee, Ginger Ekberg, Chad and Debbie Morris, Steve and Patti Stout, Sue and Roy Edwards, Andy Charvat and fiancee Debie Cross, and Sharky and Fluffy; grandchildren, Keli and Skip Olson, Kodi and Michelle Charvat, Codel and April Charvat, Heath Schwarz, Nathan and Amy Morris, Nick Stout and Lacey Street, Robert Cross, Ryan Cross, Goldie Morris, Stefanie Stout and Justin Edwards; great-grandchildren, Dylon Charvat, Taylor Charvat, Tryan Charvat, DJ Olson, Kailyn Olson, Kamryn Olson, Xander Schwarz, Zyier Schwarz, Tristian Stout and Makayla Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Lucille Charvat; his stepmother, Martina Charvat; two sisters; and his beloved pet, Sharky. Leslie Charvat may be viewed from noon to 4 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St. Celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow the service at Resthaven Cemetery.
