LeRoy Follett, 86, of Walden, Colorado passed away October 21, 2011. Born in Leotta, Kansas March 30, 1925, LeRoy moved to North Park with his family as a young boy. LeRoy served in the army during WWII in the pacific theater. He saw active duty in seven major and seven minor campaigns, including New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Luzon earning two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts, among others. LeRoy met Joan McNamara in 1948 and they married June 10, 1951 in Walden where they made their home and had five children. In June 2011 they celebrated 60 years of marriage. He worked as a welder in the ship yards, followed by work in the oil fields and timber industry. LeRoy enjoyed hunting, fishing, rebuilding vehicles, and was an active volunteer in his community. He was very involved in VFW, also serving as Colorado State Commander of the VFW in 1977. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Joan Follett; son, Dan Follett and his wife, Dian of Kerrville, Texas and their sons, Brandon and Mike and great granddaughter, Tristin; son, Denton Follett and his wife, Amy of Ogden, Utah and their son Quin; daughter, Terry Follett and Laura Beard of Golden, Colorado; son, Dean Follett and his wife, Karen of Casper, Wyoming and their son Ethan. He is preceded in death by son, Delbert Follett, mother, father, two brothers and three sisters. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Jackson County Cemetery.
