Leota Mae Webb (Regier), was born on April 6, 1932, in Alva, Oklahoma, and passed away on April 3rd, 2023, in Fort Collins, CO. She was born to Abraham and Louise Regier, and was the first of their three daughters. Her family's history was rooted in her Christian faith by her family who immigrated from Germany and Russia to escape religious persecution, eventually settling in Kansas and Oklahoma. Her early life was spent living near and traveling to her grandmother's farm and spending time with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She recalls fondly, spending long hours of laughter, and playing with the farm animals. Her junior high and high school years were spent in Enid, Oklahoma. She enjoyed being in many school plays. She graduated from Enid High School, in 1950. Following high school, she went to Tabor College, and eventually graduated from Phillips University University in Enid, OK, with a degree in math. She got her first job after college in Wichita, KS, as a high school math teacher. She was there for two years, when she learned that the Denver Public School district was hiring many new teachers due to the growth in the area. She and a friend who was also hired in Denver, pulled up their Oklahoma roots and headed west. During her early teaching career she met Bob Webb, who was in the same singles group at a church they attended and began dating, and they were married on December 30th, 1958. A few years later, she gave birth to their first son, John, on July 31st, 1961. Their second son, David, who was deaf, was born on October 2nd, 1963. Leota took a leave from teaching while her sons were in their younger years, and during that time got her master's degree in special education at Denver University. Her passion became deaf education and she spent the rest of her career teaching at the secondary level until she retired in 1999, with a total of 31 years with the Denver Public School district. After retirement, she and her husband, Bob, who had also retired, remained in Denver until 2009, when they moved to Fort Collins to be closer to John and his family. Throughout her life she continued to be involved in the lives of many people. She was a long-time precept bible study leader and was involved in many church volunteer activities. Her hobby passion throughout her lifetime was making dolls. She was a very talented seamstress, and made hundreds and hundreds of dolls alongside many of her friends. She and her husband, Bob, were always involved in lots of activities in the church.
Leota is survived by her son John and his wife Daylene, of Fort Collins; her sister Janice and her husband Gerald, of Springfield, MO.: her grandsons, Andrew and his wife Shea; of Cottonwood, AZ, and their son Micah; Tyler and his wife Megan of Phoenix, and their two children, Asher, and Silas; her 3 great-grandchildren. She has many nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the country. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, of Fort Collins; her son David of Denver; her sister Edith and her husband, Dick of Nashville; and her parents, Abraham and Louise Regier, of Enid, OK.
