Listen to Obituary
Leo Frenchie Thyfault, formerly of Fort Collins, died Wednesday, June 4 in Northglenn, Colorado. He was 85 years old. Born in Zurich, Kansas to Joseph and Nelda Thyfault, Leo had a fearless and adventurous spirit that called him to Colorado shortly after his marriage in 1949 to Glennys Jerri Jarrett. Together, Leo and Jerri raised seven children in Fort Collins where Leo was an active member of the community as a business owner, volunteer and long-time member of the Knights of Columbus. In 1974, Leo and Jerri moved to Crystal Lakes where they enjoyed the beauty of the home that he and his brothers built there for over 30 years. In that time Leo was deputy sheriff, fire volunteer, business owner, peacekeeper, rescuer, sled runner, poker host, bbq king, fisherman, hunter, and whiskey aficionado. These were the best years of his life. Leo was a loved and respected member of every community he called home. Everywhere he went, someone knew him and was glad to see him. There is a great void where his bright light once shone from earth. Leo was preceded in death by his daughter Margaret, and is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jerri. He also leaves behind six children, 15 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren. Leo's 21st great grandchild, Leo Rock Ligrani, is due June 26. A Rosary will be held Thursday, 9:00 a.m., with a Memorial Mass to follow at 9:30 a.m. Both services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church. A Private Inurnment will be held at Chapel in the Pines, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Leo's name to: St. Joseph's Church
101 N. Howes St., Fort Collins, CO 80521.
