In Loving Memory of Larry Mason - September 11, 1950 to October 3, 2026
Larry was a man of honor, compassion, humor, and unwavering dedication. A proud Boulder County native, he lived a life defined by service, family, friendship, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. He was a trusted mentor, loyal friend, loving husband and father, dear brother to Terri, and someone others could always count on. Taking care of the people he loved was simply who he was.
Above all, Larry was a devoted husband to Cecilia, his wife of 55 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures. He was also a loving and adored “Pops” to daughter Kristine and son Travis, and a proud grandfather to Andrew and Ethan Gaona and Delaney and Kyler Mason. His guidance, steady presence, and unconditional love created memories his family will treasure for generations.
Larry had an adventurous spirit and loved exploring beyond his hometown. As a teenager, he kept his mom on her toes with phone calls that began, “Hey Mom, guess where I’m at?”—a perfect reflection of his mischievous nature and quick wit. He loved the outdoors, finding peace among the mountains and wildlife he cherished, as well as tranquility beside the ocean, where the sound of the waves offered a welcome escape. Whether exploring new places or enjoying nature’s quiet beauty, Larry knew how to appreciate life’s adventures.
Following his time in the United States Army, Larry dedicated 40 years to law enforcement, serving his community with integrity, professionalism, and a strong sense of duty. He mentored others and built a distinguished career that culminated in his retirement at the rank of Sergeant.
Though known for his strong work ethic and dependability, Larry was equally loved for his quick wit and practical jokes. He had a gift for making people laugh, lightening difficult moments, and reminding everyone not to take life too seriously. Those who knew him will remember his clever remarks, unforgettable pranks, and the laughter he brought wherever he went.
Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, service, loyalty, and laughter. Though deeply missed, he will live on in the family he cherished, the people he mentored, and the countless lives he touched. May we find comfort in imagining him among the mountains he loved or peacefully beside the ocean, enjoying the tranquility of nature—and perhaps sharing one last joke.
He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
