Lawrence D. Kimber passed away peacefully on March 4, 2009, at age 93 years' young, surrounded by many loving family members. He was born October 4, 1915 in Mullen, Neb. His mother and dad traded two homesteads for a 650 acre ranch near Livermore. Lawrence graduated from the Owl Canyon School in 1932. He had the same teacher for his entire schooling. In 1936 at the age of 21, Lawrence was the Bronc Riding Champion at the Livermore Rodeo. In 1942 Lawrence joined the Navy and was aboard ship where he severely injured his knee attempting to stabilize some ammunition in a rough storm. He was in the Navy for 18 months, where he spent the last nine months in the hospital, and was medically discharged. Lawrence Kimber and Isabelle Brown were married August 19, 1946 in Colorado Springs. They have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. They have had the opportunity to travel through every state in the United States. Lawrence was an avid fisherman who tied all of his own flies and many for his friends and family. He also has hunted both elk and deer for his entire life. Another of his abilities was harvesting and making lots of choke cherry jelly for his family and friends. Both Lawrence and Isabelle enjoyed many camping adventures over their married years. Lawrence is survived by his wife Isabelle; two nieces, June Kechter and Patricia Patrick of Fort Collins; two nephews Dale Kimber Donna of Delta, and John Bigham late niece Kay of Loveland. He has several great, and great, great nieces and nephews; and five God children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Lawrence would be pleased and honored to have donations in lieu of flowers be made to Pathways Hospice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
