Larry Stevens was called home to the Kingdom of Heaven on June 23, 2025 at Poudre Valley Hospital surrounded by loving family and friends following a long battle with Parkinson's
Disease.
Larry was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on August 18, 1947. He was raised in Lancaster, California by Monroe and Ida Stevens where he graduated from high school. After graduating high school he lived in Bend, Oregon for a short time before taking up residency in Ft. Collins, Colorado for 53 years. Upon his arrival in Ft. Collins he began a 45 year career at Poudre Valley Hospital working in laundry and housekeeping. While there he became quite a celebrity; known for his friendly, warm personality. It was at the hospital where he met Cindy, who also worked there at the time. After marriage they welcomed their daughter Heather in 1985. He later took a second job as a crossing guard at Bauder Elementary School and O'Dea Elementary School, working there for 25 years where he was loved by parents and teachers alike.
Larry was a people person who loved to engage with everyone he encountered. Whenever he was out and about he was always met with a chorus of "Hello Larry" no matter where he might be. He was an avid sports fan and could often be spotted donning a Denver Bronco's or Colorado Rockies' cap as he discussed the highlights of the last big game with those he met
along his path. He was a long time member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He could often be found in the narthex mingling and eating his favorite treat: donuts. At home he enjoyed squirrel and bird watching, cooking, engaging with his pet chihuahua Latte, hooking rugs, or viewing The Price is Right or the big game of the day on T.V.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Heather; sisters Lorita, Lorilee, Linda, and Barbara (Jerry); sister-in-law Bev (Russ), brother-in-law Clint, as well as many nieces, nephews, and
other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Monroe and Ida; stepmom Lilllian, and brother Fred.
Larry will be remembered as a loving husband and father often enjoying sporting events or a movie with his daughter Heather. He was known for his kind heart, big warm smile, sense of
humor, and happy go lucky personality. He was indeed an endearing man to all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on August 22, 2025, 11:00 am at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Ft. Collins. The family has requested that those who wish, wear their Bronco's attire in Larry's honor. If desired, contributions may be made in Larry's name to Shepherd of the Hills Memorial Fund, or Parkinson's Foundation.
