Kenneth "Ken" Lee Baker, beloved son and brother, patient father, proud military veteran and friend, passed away on November 21, 2018 in LaPorte, Colorado. Ken was Born on July 2, 1953, in Spokane, Washington to Robert and Myrtle Baker.
Ken is described by his friends and family as a compassionate and creative man. Ken loved nothing more than to work on cars, boats, motorcycles and other complex machines. He earned a reputation for being able to fix anything. He was also a lover of animals, nature and the mountains. Loved ones often recall fishing with Ken in the lakes and streams near the family's cabin. He grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from Poudre High School. Following in the footsteps of his father, a Marine who fought in WWII, Ken enlisted in the Navy and was trained and worked as a mechanical engineer on a submarine crew. After leaving the Navy he worked in the nuclear energy field at power plants throughout the United States.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Stacy Smenos; sister, Barbara Hooker; and his twin brother, Keith Baker.
Memorial services will be held on Dec 5, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 E Stuart St, Fort Collins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Larimer County Humane Society in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, CO 80524.
