Kelly jean Short (Wunch) of Ft Collins, Colorado died on July 18, 2026, with her husband and parents comforting her as she made her eternal homecoming.
Kelly was born on August 21, 1964, in Ft Collins at Pouder Valley Hospital. She had a wonderful and active childhood where she excelled on the local swim team and graduated from Ft Collins High School. Kelly earned a degree in nursing and also served with Hospice Care and the Good Samaritans. Kelly was most known for the bright light that gleamed from her soul. She never met someone who didn't instantly love her and become her friend. She had a perpetual smile and gregarious energy that was shared with all. Kelly especially shined her love on the elderly and with children-and she was very much a child at heart. She danced with children, played games, laughed and told stories. She will be long remembered for her memories she left with the little ones.
Kelly and her loving husband Bobby -- her "wingman" and soul mate of 30 years - shared many interest including fishing, shooting, camping or a great afternoon at Maya Cove or the American Legion. The Colorado mountains and love for our nation's military, our veterans, firefighters and policemen were mutual devotions.
Kelly is survived by her husband, Robert Dwayne Short, her parents, Kenneth and Ellen Wunch and her brother, Kenneth Wunch Jr (Kim Wunch). Kelly is also survived by Darlene Sigward with whom she had a special and lifelong relationship. She also leaves behind her devoted chihuahua, Bobo.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation on Kelly's behalf to Disabled American Veterans @dav.org
