Listen to Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kelly Dean Schilling, age 56, of Fort Collins, Colo., who passed away on December 17, 2024, with his wife and children lovingly by his side.
Kelly was born on June 3, 1968, in Sheridan, Wyo. He graduated from Thompson Valley High School in 1986 and began his college education at Colorado State University earning a bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology. Kelly continued his education at the University of Colorado, earning a master's degree in physical therapy. After 30 years of service in the healthcare field, Kelly made a career change to hospitality, working for Breckenridge Grand Vacations where he helped families and friends come together to create cherished memories.
Kelly and Jennie married in 1992 and welcomed their son Bailey in 1996. Their family grew to five when their daughters Ashley and Brittney were born in 1999 and 2002. Kelly was a dedicated and beloved husband, father, and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Everything Kelly did was in honor of his family. Throughout his life, Kelly was known for his kindness, sense of humor, dedication, work ethic, and was simply skilled in all trades. Kelly had many hobbies and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting, drag racing, playing golf, and traveling- all hobbies that revolved around spending quality time with his family. He was also passionate about music and enjoyed concerts and music festivals.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Jennie; his son, Bailey; and his daughters, Ashely Hazlett (Samuel) and Brittney. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald (Jerry) Schilling.
As we grieve the loss of his physical presence, we find comfort in knowing that Kelly's spirit lives on in the love he instilled in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the lives he touched through his journey. A memorial service to celebrate Kelly's life will be held on January 8, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO 80525 with a cookie reception following the service. All are welcome to join in remembering Kelly and honoring his legacy.
In loving memory of Kelly, flowers may be sent, or donations can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church's Worship & Music Ministry or the Comfort Dog Ministry.
