Karla Rae Buxman was born to Carl and Georgia Hultquist on February 3, 1954 in Ft Morgan, CO. She got her angel’s wings on September 18, 2026. Karla attended Ft Morgan schools, graduating in 1972. She attended CSU in Ft Collins and later earned her associates degree at Casper College. Much of Karla’s work career was associated with Real Estate, beginning with working for her Uncle, Gene Doty and ultimately retiring from Land Title in 2015.
Karla had many talents and hobbies. She was an avid reader. She sewed, knitted and created stained glass pieces. She was an accomplished baker, learning traditional German dishes from Bob’s Mom. She started a family tradition of baking Springerle cookies. She learned the art of baking German Rye bread, German pancakes and Cherry Kuchen. She also made butterballs that she learned from Mom Buxman and Aunt Marian Kercher.
Most of all, Karla enjoyed her grandchildren, Tucker and Raven. She had the kids help with the Springerle and Ranger cookies. Karla enjoyed travel, especially the 20+ annual trips with Georgia and Kathy after Carl passed in 2003. Before marriage, Karla’s family along with 3 other families would spend labor day at Grand Lake, CO. Post retirement, Karla and Bob had memorable vacations in Scotland and London, Scandonavia, a river cruise in central Europe, Alaska and numerous trips to Hawaii.
Her most memorable trip at Christmas 2025 was to Hawaii’s Big Island with Jeremy, Cheri, Tucker and Raven.
Her kind, flexible and forgiving personality endeared her to many. She was a loyal and generous friend who always saw the best in people. She will be missed.
Karla is survived by her Mother, Georgia Hultquist, Ft Morgan, CO, Husband Bob, Son Jeremy,Cheri,Tucker and Raven, Centennial and sister Kathy Hultquist (Alan Vahrenkamp) Camano Island, WA. Karla was also 1 of 37 First Cousins.
A celebration of life is being planned for October 17 at the First Christian Church, 225 W Bijou, Ft Morgan at 10:30.
