Justin Leonard Meikel

Justin was born on April 22, 2001 to loving mother Kristin Padilla and Charlie Crimmins in Loveland, Colorado. He spent much of his youth in Loveland and Fort Collins. He was adopted on June 25, 2010 by Carlos Meikel and Rebecca Benedict. He is survived by biological mother, Kristin Padilla, sister Brianna Sanchez, and father-figure Jesse Sanchez. He is also survived by adoptive father Carlos and his wife Diane and Adoptive mother Rebecca Benedict. On Saturday, January 16, 2021, Justin Meikel passed away.

Justin had charm and charisma. His smile was infectious, with a broad grin and a twinkle in his eye. He could engage many in lively verbal sparring about his favorite sports teams. Justin felt happiest when he could be moving: he loved football, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse. His passion was basketball and could sink three pointer shots from anywhere on the courts. Cherished memories include going to cheer for soccer or hockey games with mom, or football and baseball with his dad. He also loved video games , drawing, and fishing.

Justin had an adventurous spirit. He loved traveling with his family: seeing new things, trying different activities, and eating amazing food. He enjoyed spending time with grandparents including time at the cabin, Grandma's chocolate chip cookies, and Sunday morning coffee. He could turn a kitchen upside down if it meant cooking something and he could share it with someone he cared about. He also had a stubborn nature. He thrived when he was in the company of others and channeled his energy into positivity.
