The Life-Story of Justin James Berger Justin James Berger was born on November 6, 1983 at 4:30 P.M. in Brighton, Colorado. As a child he was red-headed and gorgeous. Justin never cried and always slept all night long to keep his mother content. He was a very good baby. At three years old, Justin began riding his bike. Without training wheels and without any previous training, Justin naturally took to his bicycle and rode it around like he had been doing it for years. When Justin started school he was an excellent student. But later on in his education he became bored and couldn't sit still for hours on end. He was a free-spirit and refused to let anything hold him down. Throughout his childhood Justin raced and rode BMX and Motocross. He was an excellent and fearless rider in both sports. Justin also rode snowmobiles, in-lined skated, kayaked, and snowboarded throughout his childhood. He kayaked and rode motocross his entire life. He loved both sports. However, kayaking was his main passion and he went on to run very technical whitewater fearlessly. McFadden Wyoming was Justin's second home as a child. He spent most weekends in McFadden, and loved the state of Wyoming his entire life. Justin, with his brother and sister as accomplices, built forts, chased cows, climbed hills, and sledded endlessly in McFadden. Every summer they would go camping and backpacking in the Medicine Bow National Forest. Wyoming had a strong hold on Justin's heart and he could never let it go. As a young adult, Justin traveled all over the world. He went to Australia and New Zealand on a solo adventure. He has also been to Honduras, Hawaii, and Indonesia. Justin loved to travel but he loved to kayak more. He always felt at home on the river and to him a class V run on the Poudre was the greatest adventure of all. Justin was a partner in an oil and gas construction company with his dad and younger brother. They built and maintained oil and gas production facilities. They also installed natural gas pipelines. He was extremely talented and hands-down the best equipment operator in the company. Justin was married to the girl of his dreams, Taylor Mahaffey. Together they have a son, Hunter Morrison Berger, who is six months old. Justin and Taylor had been together for seven years. Everybody who has known Justin knows that he was one of a kind; a free-spirit that would never let the world overtake his passions for life. His love for the people around him and for his life endeavors was unparalleled. Justin is remembered by his wife Taylor and son Hunter. He is also remembered by his immediate family, extended family, and by all his friends. You guys know who you are. Justin will be deeply missed. A memorial service will be held Thursday, 12 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
