Julius Matthew Kamrud, Jr.

Julius Matthew (Bud) Kamrud Jr., 81 of Fort Collins, CO passed away on Monday, August 14th, 2023. Julius was born on March 7th, 1942 to Julius and Nora (Reisrud) Kamrud in Starbuck, MN. He was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Starbuck. In 1960 he graduated from Parkers Prairie High School. Julius attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and then transferred to the University of Minnesota Morris and graduated with a degree in biological science. He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1962. He taught science in Appleton for 3 years and then moved to Pine River, MN where he taught science from 1969-71. He moved to Fort Collins, CO and made it his home for 52 years. He taught science at Lincoln Junior High school in Fort Collins for several years. He enjoyed tutoring foreign students in English whose parents were attending CSU. He was an active member at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. For many, many years he enjoyed riding horses with the Front Range Exceptional Equestrians Therapeutic Riding program and later at the Temple Grandin Equine Center at CSU. Riding horses brought Bud much happiness in his later years. Julius enjoyed studying Greek & Latin. He enjoyed planting and harvesting his vegetable garden in his backyard. Many of his nephews and nieces fondly referred to him as Bud. Julius is survived by his 4 brothers, Chris (Dianne) Kamrud, Norman (Judy) Kamrud, Ted (Debra) Kamrud, Luther (Terri) Kamrud and brother-in-law Bill Nelson and numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Julius is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Nora Kamrud and his sister Angeline Nelson.

A Memorial Service will be held 10 am Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1200 S. Taft Hill Rd. Private Interment will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
