Judy Harris, 58, lost her valiant battle to a sudden illness while visiting friends in Burbank, Calif., on Wednesday, April 12, 2006. She is remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend to many. She was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Lawrence, Kan., to William and Fredericka Schehrer. Judy lived in Eudora, Kan., and attended Marymount College in Salina, Kan. After graduation, she then moved to Colorado. Judy was an outstanding teacher at Poudre High School and a fourth-grade teacher at Putnam and Lopez Elementary schools. She was dearly loved by her students, their families and the school staff. Judy served as Eucharistic minister at Blessed John XXIII University Center and was a volunteer through the American Cancer Society's "Reach to Recovery" program. She also was a nursing home visitor. Judy was an avid reader and knitter and enjoyed many crafts and was a worldwide traveler. She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Joe; two sisters, Susie Trabant and husband, Galen, and Pat Stramel; and five nephews and one niece. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Blessed John XXIII University Parish, 1220 University Ave. Mass of Christian Burial is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed John XXIII University Parish. Interment is at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Respite Care in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins, CO 80524.
