"If thou hast two loaves, go sell one, and buy hyacinths to feed thy soul ... " Judith Kay Smith, 53, of Loveland, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at McKee Medical Center surrounded by family and friends. In life, she fed the souls of many with her eclectic nature, unmatched wit and gentle ways. Judy was born in 1952 in Broken Arrow, Okla. She graduated from Poudre High school in 1970 and from the University of Colorado in 1974. Judy began her career as an English teacher in 1974 at Elkhart High School in Elkhart, Kan. She returned to Colorado to teach at Walt Clark Junior High when it opened in 1978. She received her master's in educational media in 1981 and became the media specialist for Walt Clark. In 1996, she was appointed director of media services for the Thompson School District. Judy loved music, poetry and the fine arts. She enjoyed the company of family and friends and a good joke. For several years, she served as the captain of a trivia bowl team. Judy loved to travel, and led several tours to Great Britain. Judy is survived by: parents, Ellsworth and Evelyn Smith, of Fort Collins; brother, Doug Smith, of Fort Collins; niece, Stacie Shi, and husband, David, of Broomfield; nephew, Ryan Smith, and grand-niece, Emilie, of Fort Collins; and numerous family members and friends. A memorial service celebrating Judy's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Fort Collins. Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of Larimer County. In the gardens of our minds all who knew her will remember Judy in a very special way.
