Juanita C. Skelton, 93, of Bell-vue, died Jan. 13, 2007, at a local nursing home. Mrs. Skelton was born July 8, 1913, in Groom, Texas, to Fred Hale Campbell and Tuny Gertrude Hughes Campbell. Juanita married Hiram Bowmer Skelton on March 12, 1944, in Amarillo, Texas. She was the first director of special education for Arlington Public School Systems in Arlington, Texas, and also taught special education. She then moved to Fort Collins in 1995 from Arlington, Texas. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers, Chamber of Commerce and the Women's Club Mrs. Skelton is survived by her son, Joe Frank Skelton of Bellvue; two step-children, Roland Lynn Skelton of Houston, Texas, and Hiram Bowmer Skelton Jr. of Austin, Texas; a sister, Johnnie Dean Vogt of Amarillo, Texas; two grandchildren, Lucinda Able, Daniella Jo DeFoor; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Able, Craig Able, Bailey DeFoor, Kayla DeFoor. She is preceded in death by her parents and also her husband, who died in a plane accident in 1953. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bohlender Funeral Chapel.
