Listen to Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juanita C. Meza, at the age of 87, on Monday, December 30, 2024. Juanita was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a faithful woman of God. She was the heart of the family, which included her husband, Tony Meza and her six children: Tony Jr., Rose, Betty, Mark, Lucy and Gracie.

Born on April 1, 1937, in Eagle Pass, TX, she grew up working in the fields where she met the love of her life, Tony. They married at the young age of 17 and 20 on November 16, 1954, and soon after, began their family in Northern Colorado. Six years later, they bought their first and only home in Timnath, CO where they lived for over 60 years. Being the first Hispanic family in Timnath came with its challenges, particularly in finding acceptance. But through warmth in the church community and kindness of her neighbor, Ruth, Juanita soon became known and loved by all. Her genuine spirit, generosity and faith helped her form deep and lasting connections for those around her.

Juanita had many passions, including playing the piano, as well as gardening, embroidery and sewing. She loved spending time outdoors, going hunting and fishing with her husband, children and great-grandchildren. She was a self-taught cook, and no one will ever forget her homemade tamales at Christmas, her flavorful beans and rice, and the most delicious tortillas that filled the home with love and warmth. There will never be anything quite like it. She took great pride in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her home was always a place of warmth, laugher and love.

A dedicated wife, mother, and friend, Juanita was deeply involved with her church and bible study group, where she formed many lasting friendships. She attended faithfully for many years and remained committed to her studies and her spiritual growth. Her love for God was a guiding force in her life, and she shared that love with everyone around her.

As the matriarch of her family, she leaves behind two sons, Tony Jr. and Mark; two daughters, Betty and Lucy; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild, all of whom she loved dearly.

Juanita is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony, her two daughters, Gracie Baird and Rose Grashorn. She will be remembered as a loving, selfless caring woman who touched the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her her. Her faith, family and kindness will live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Rest in peace, Juanita. You will be deeply missed, forever loved and never forgotten.

A funeral service will be held in her honor.
