Joyce Elaine Martin died May 9, 2025 after a brief illness.
Joyce was born April 28, 1939 in Kearney, Nebraska to Howard and Maude (Hibberd) Widdowson. She grew up on the family farm outside of Gibbon, NE. She graduated from Gibbon High School in 1956 and from Kearney State College in 1960. She taught Physical Education in Holdrege for 2 years.
Joyce married John Martin on May 27, 1961. They moved to Fort Collins, CO in 1962. She was a homemaker until she started working for La-Z-Boy Furniture, as a secretary in 1988.
Joyce enjoyed playing various sports. She played softball until she was 55 and bowled for over 55 years.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved to attend her grandkids sporting events.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, her parents Howard and Maude Widdowson, Her brothers George Widdowson and Jim Widdowson, sisters-in-law Helen Widdowson, Winnie Widdowson, Ruth Skeen and brothers-in-law Byron Skeen and Robert Cordes.
She is survived by her daughters Lori Martin, Kris Martin and son Mike (Jahn Smylie) Martin. Her grandchildren, Courtney (KC Westerman) Martin, Treyvor (Alyssa) Ayer, Barbara Martin, Madi Martin, and John Martin;, her sister-in-law Sue Cordes and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 am on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery.
