Joy Jeanette (Keegan) Edwards was born on November 12, 1934, in Prairie Creek, Indiana. to Emery and Olie Keegan.
During her time at Prairie Creek High School, Joy was a standout student. She not only cheered for the school's teams but also showcased her musical talents as member of the marching band. Her dedication and skill in these roles were a source for pride for her family and friends.
Later in life, she furthered her education and became a licensed Hairdresser, eventually owning and operating three successful beauty salons in Fort Collins. She thought one's personal appearance added to one's self-confidence and always tried to help her clients look and feel their best.
After retiring, Joy discovered a new passion, the banjo. It was more than just a hobby; it was a source of immense joy for her. She especially loved sharing this love with her family. On vacations back in Indiana, she spent hours playing bluegrass songs and country hymns with her brother Carl, sister Marg, and husband Dewey. Even when they could no longer travel, Joy's brother would send videos of himself playing the guitar, and as Joy watched the videos, she would play her banjo along with them.
Survivors include Joy's daughter Paula Lynn Emery (husband Gary), two grandsons Joshua Emery (wife Bree) and Ethan Emery (wife Tina); five great-grandchildren Faith Emery, Jeremiah Emery, Anaiah Emery, Justice Emery, and Isaiah Emery, and a sister Charlotte Pounds.
Joy was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Sue; parents Emery and Ollie Keegan; brothers Walter, June, Elvin, Carl, and sisters Tressie, Violet, Louise, Ruby and Marjorie.
Joy accepted the Lord as her personal Savior in 1966 at Bethel Baptist Church in Fort Collins, Colorado. She was forever grateful to have developed a relationship with Jesus Christ and could finally stand in his presence on February 23, 2024.
