Josephine Maxwell Pierce Haupt Sierer – better known as "Jaye" – passed away on January 19, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Fort Collins, CO.

Jaye was born in West Chester, PA, on March 4, 1925, to the late Beatrice Nute Pierce and Augustus Duer Pierce. A graduate of Kennett High School, she attended Bucknell University.

Jaye married Charles E. "Goper" Haupt Sr. in 1946. Together, they ran the American House hotel in Perkasie from 1946 to 1958. Later, Jaye became the Assistant to the Headmaster of Upland Country Day School, a position she held for more than 25 years. She took care of the students, parents, teachers and staff. Greeting each day with her never-ending smile, she earned everyone's respect and love.

Jaye and Goper lived in Chester County for most of their married lives, moving to the coast of Maine in 1997 after many years of vacationing there.

Goper died in 2001. In 2005, Jaye married Robert Sierer of Wilmington, DE. Bob joined Jaye as they continued for many years as volunteers at the Marshall Point Lighthouse near Port Clyde, ME, holding leadership roles. They were also active members of the Port Clyde Baptist Church.

A woman of constant faith, even with her illness Jaye had no worries. Let go and let God was her motto. She left this world with grace, having given freely of her time and energy to those lucky enough to be a part of her life.

Jaye was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Goper; her brother Donald Pierce; her sister Jeannie Scott; and her grandson Charlie Haupt. She is survived by her second husband, Robert Sierer; her brother, Augustus Duer "Bud" Pierce Jr. of Kennett Square; her daughter, Linda Haupt of Fort Collins, CO; her son, Charles E. "Chuck" (Mary) Haupt of Owego, NY; her daughters-in-law Libby Craig, Trish Hensey and Sue Sobocinski ; grandsons Matthew and Sean (Sarah) Brutscher of Fort Collins, CO; granddaughter Maggie Haupt of Westmont, IL, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
