Joseph Tovar

Joseph Tovar, 84, of Ft Collins, Colorado, passed away on December 8, 2019, at home with family by his side. Joseph was born to Pete Tovar and Betsy (Rios) Tovar on August 8, 1935 in Johnstown, Colorado. He was the older of two boys.

He graduated from Loveland High School in 1953. On September 1, 1960, he married Katharine Gonzales in Loveland, CO. Together they had two children, Jacqueline and Kirk. He served in the Army National Guard from 1958 - 1966. Throughout the years he was employed by many employers, including Denver Star Bread, Colorado State University Bakery, Kroh's Nursery, Ft Collins Nursery, Thompson School District, Dunkin Donuts and Steele's Market. He retired from CSU in the early 1990's and also retired from Steele's Market after a short career with them.
His favorite part time job was taking care of his grandchildren.

He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sports and school activities. The only sports events that he missed, were the ones that were played out of state.
Joseph enjoyed gardening, cooking for his family and watching the Rockies and Broncos play. He also loved the time he was able to spend with his great grandchildren. It was always family first in his eyes. Family was the most important thing in his life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Katharine, of 59 years; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Bruce Mortimore of Ft Collins, CO; son and daughter-in-law, Kirk and Gina Tovar of Ft Collins, CO; grandchildren, Brittani and Josh Bland of Castle Rock, CO, Cory Tovar of Ft Collins, CO; great grandchildren, Easton and Harper Bland of Castle Rock, CO; and numerous other relatives. Preceding Joseph in death are his parents and his brother Mark.

A visitation will be from 9 am to 4 pm, Friday, December 13, 2019. The Rosary will be at 7 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W Olive St., Ft Collins.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W Olive St., Ft Collins.
