March 19, 1940 - April 5, 2024
Josefina Noyola (84) of Fort Collins passed away on Friday, April 5, 2024, in her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Josefina was born on March 19, 1940 in Cactus, TX to Julio and Consuelo (Castro) De La Cruz.
Josefina married Aurielio Noyola Sr. on September 27, 1957 in Laredo, TX. They spent the next few years as a new family beginning to raise their children in Texas. In 1973, the Noyola's moved to Fort Collins and made their home on Martinez Street in the historical Spanish Colony neighborhood where they would continue to live until the time of Mrs. Noyola's death. Josefina was a proud mother of 8 children (4 girls and 4 boys), and proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. You could see the pride in her eyes anytime one of her "babies" would stop by to say 'hi', achieve the next step toward their goals or simply give her a phone call. She truly lived for her family. As a young woman, Josefina was a homemaker and volunteered her time with various non-profit causes that helped to provide support to families throughout Fort Collins. She was an avid seamstress and quilter - she could take any piece of fabric and turn it into the trendiest set of clothes and re-use the scraps to make beautiful quilts. Josefina's greatest joy in life was her family. Her door was always open where she would eagerly be waiting with a cup of coffee, or a Mountain Dew, a plate of delicious home-cooked food that you could feel her love poured into, and sitting with a smile that would melt your heart. She was always there to lend an ear when you needed her the most, as well as celebrate with you over your next accomplishment. Later in life as her children grew up and left the home, Josefina worked in child care until her retirement in 2007. It's hard to say just how many lives Josefina touched while working in child care, but every child she encountered quickly began calling her Grandma and treated her just like their own family. Josefina was a happy, gentle, yet tough, nurturing soul who loved watching The Price Is Right and her novellas. She never missed a birthday and always made sure you got some food as soon as you walked through the door because, "you need to eat!". Mrs. Josefina Noyola had a special connection with every member of her family, friends, and friends-of-friends; and whose smile, hugs, laugh and presence is deeply going to be missed by all.
Josefina is survived by her children; Estela Baca, Rita (Isaac) Sepeda, Jose (Jennifer) Noyola, Rogelio Noyola, Norma (Elias Jr.) Martinez, Aurelio Noyola Jr; brother Jorge De la Cruz, Frances (Melvin) Johnson, Consuelo (Carlos) Torres, Raquel Estrada, Marta Casto (Oscar Jasso); 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews.
Josefina was preceded in death by her husband, Aurelio Noyola Sr; daughter, Sandra Noyola; son, Ramiro Noyola; sons-in-law, James Baca and Bruce Cagle Sr.; parents, Julio and Consuelo (Castro) De La Cruz; mother-in-law, Felipa
Noyola; sisters, Antonia Landeros, Marcelina Castillo and Carmen Castro; brothers, Raul Castro and Jacinto Castro.
