With great sadness the Jaramillo family announces the passing of our brother Joe "Nappy" on the 6th of January 2026, after a lengthy illness. Joe was born March 25 1938 to Bill and Josephine Jaramillo. He is preceded in passing by his wife Erika, his parents, and brothers Robert (Bonnie), and Patrick.

He is survived by son Erik (Jessica), grandson Austin, siblings Delores, Lupe (Paul), Betsy, Max (Edna), Margaret (Russell), Dan (Dakota), and sister-in-law Bonnie (Robert), and numerous nephews and nieces.

Joe joined the US Army in March of 1955. Served 26 years being discharged November 1981. Served all over the world. Which included 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. Also time in S. Korea, and elsewhere to include Germany where he met the love of his life Erika Budszus. Together they have a son Erik. During Joe's time in the Army he received numerous metals and citations. To include 3 Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, multiple of unit citations from different duty stations.

He retired as a Master Sergeant (E8). His last post was Fort Carson. Moved back home to Fort Collins. Lived here a few years until his mother-in-law became sick. Erika wanting to be with her mother. They moved back to Germany in 1983. Stayed 14 years returning in 1997. With Erik receiving his high school diploma in Germany. Joe and Erika enrolled him into high school here in Fort Collins so he would be able to establish some school friendships.

After returning to Fort Collins. Being restless after retirement Joe worked a few different jobs. Working for Orkin pest control, a security guard, and a delivery driver for a commercial drywall company in town.

A service will be held at the Cheyenne National Cemetery. At 1:00PM on Friday, January 16, 2026.

The family will have a celebration of life. At the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) at 4:00 PM, January 16th. All are welcome to join.
