John Scovie

John Scovie, 86, of Fort Collins, passed away on Feb. 19, 2006. John was born to John and Elizabeth Scovie on June 2, 1919, in Chicago. He had two sisters, Lucille Summers and Dorothy Nielsen, and a brother, Robert Scovie. He lived and attended school on the south side of Chicago, graduated from Bowen High School in 1938 and attended college at Wharton School of Commerce. John served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 as a surgical assistant in the 64th Field Hospital during which time he was located in Scotland, England, France and Germany. John married Bea on April 8, 1946, in Chicago. They had three children, Richard, Susan and Nancy. John served as a district manager for the Seven-Up Co. in Chicago, where he retired after 30 years. He was a past commander of an American Legion Post in Chicago. In 1981, John and Bea moved to Fort Collins. John took a position with Senior Chuck Wagon Dinners and delivered dinners for 15 years before suffering a stroke. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice, of Fort Collins; his son, Richard Scovie, of Chicago; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Stephen Schell, of Fort Collins; his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Kevin Burkhart, of Oswego, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tracy and wife, Terry Newberry, of Greeley, and Damon and wife, Carren Schell, of Redondo Beach, Calif. He also enjoyed and is survived by his four great-grandchildren, Kasandra, Kaidon, Kiera and Kendal Newberry, of Greeley. John Scovie shall be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and also World War II soldier who served his country. But most of all, he shall be remembered as a good, kind and loving man and friend to all who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at
