John F. Scholl, 80, of Fort Collins, CO, formerly of LaGrange, IL passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Lemay Rehab Center. John was born on September 14, 1930 in Grand Island, NE to Lillian and Othmar Scholl both deceased. In 1935 they moved to Chicago and eventually to Wilmette, IL. John attended University of Illinois and graduated from Marquette University. John married Joanne L. Baker on May 8, 1954 in Chicago. They lived in Athens, GA and San Diego, CA. He served as an officer in the Navy during the Korean War. After he left the Navy, he went to work for IBM as a systems engineer. John and Joanne raised their family in LaGrange, IL. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He and Joanne both had a great sense of humor that saw them through some tough times. John retired from IBM in 1990. In 1995 they moved to Fort Collins. He enjoyed tennis, camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with their many dear friends. John and Joanne enjoyed spending winters in St. Pete Beach, FL. He is survived by his three children; daughter, Eileen Scholl and husband, Dave Evans of Fort Collins; daughter, Rebecca Mann and husband, John of Fort Collins; son, Charles Scholl of Farmington Hills, MI. He is survived by sister, Gretchen Cahn of Evanston, IL and brothers, Paul Scholl Millie of Ann Arbor MI; Bill Scholl Gail of Delano, MN; Dave Scholl Marilyn of Deerfield, IL; his brother-in-law, Bill Baker Rita of Chicago, IL and seventeen nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Blessed John 23rd University Center, 1220 University Ave. A Graveside Service with Military Honors by the Fort Collins All Veterans Honor Guard will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive St., Ft. Collins, CO 80524.
