John Martin Medlin, Sr.
Age 80, of Windsor, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his home on September 26, 2025.
John was born on September 10, 1945, at Mitchel Air Force Base in the state of New York to Lex and Gloria Medlin. Growing up in a military family, he spent his early years living across the United States and abroad. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1967 and later earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University in 1983.
John proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force earning the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the AirForce Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Vietnam Service Medal with four bronze service stars, along with many others before retiring with the rank of Major. His career took him to duty stations across the U.S. as well as Thailand, Greece, and Iceland.
He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his faith, his family, his country, and his beloved Florida Gators. John was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church following many years of service in both Episcopal and Methodist traditions. While faithfully supporting his family in all their endeavors; from athletics and academics to performances, John never let a special occasion go by without sending a greeting card especially chosen for the recipient.
John is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Joan; his children, John Medlin II, Eric Mallonee (Misty), Laura Iorio (Tom), and Alexis Morris (Michael); 10 grandchildren, Nicholas, Leah, Logan, Talon, Sawyer, Zander, Samantha, Caroline, Jordan, and Ty, one great-grandchild, Lilly, his sister, Nancee Deason, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lex Arthur, and his great-granddaughter, Pru.
A memorial service will be held on October 27, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO. If you are unable to attend the service in person, we invite you to watch the memorial by going directly to

Interment with military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, 2718 E Mulberry St., Fort Collins, CO. Family and friends are invited to attend.
