It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Vernon Masters, a beloved husband, father, uncle, and friend.
John passed away on July 24, 2024, with his family by his side, at the age of 82.
John was born on January 13, 1948, to Ovie Matt Masters and Della Maude (Wilson) Masters, in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. John joined the Navy in 1959, kickstarting a 22-year career ending with the rank of Senior Chief at retirement.
John had known his spouse Barbara Boxberger as children. On December 22, 1966, they were married and went on to have four daughters. Della Marie Brackenbury, Cheri Kay Cope, Tina Louise Masters, and Bobbie Christina Masters.
John was known for his hard work, dedication, and unwavering support for his family. His positive attitude and charismatic spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara: daughters, Della of Wamego, Kansas; Cheri of Riverton, Wyoming; Tina and Bobbie of Windsor, Colorado. Eight grandchildren, Natasha Palmeri, Megan Thompson, Quentin Brackenbury, Madison Harpe, Ethan Brackenbury all of Wamego, Kansas, Ashley Cook, Monique Cope, and Kaitlyn Cope all of Riverton, Wyoming; siblings Edna Jackson, Jewel Miles, Betty Schneider, Jaunita Craft, Lois Jean Dresser, Rosie Lamb, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding John in death are his parents, five brothers Ronald Masters, Clyde Masters, Melvin Masters, Charles Masters and Lloyd Masters. sisters Edna Jackson, Wilma Masters, Claudia Ping, Linda Serfoss, and Sandy Langren. Two Grandsons Tyree and Payden Brackenbury.
Viewing will begin at 11 am on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
