John Garcia, Jr., 88, a native of Ft. Collins, passed away on February 26, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. John is preceded in death by the love of his life, Viola Garcia. They were married for 54 years. John will be missed dearly and will forever be in our hearts. He was a proud graduate of Fort Collins High School. He was a dedicated baseball player for the Merchants baseball team for many years. He was known by family, friends, old teammates, and community members for his teasing, playful nicknames, and love of baseball. John worked for Holnam Cement Company and retired in 1999.
He was defined by his devotion to his late wife, Vi, and their commitment to their family. A constant, loving presence to his children, Claude and Marie, and a proud grandfather, lived a life built on hard work and devotion. Whether he was cheering on his favorite teams, such as the Broncos or the Rockies, enjoying the outdoors at Red Feather, or spending time with his family, his love will be deeply missed. He is now reunited with his beloved wife.
John is also preceded in death by his parents, John and Bertha Garcia, his sisters Della and Patsy, brothers Frank and Tony. He is survived by his son Claude (wife, Neira), daughter Marie (husband, Dave), 4 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. As well as his sister Mary and brother, Pat.
Viewing will be held 12-4pm on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. A Rosary will be held at 9:30am with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10am on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Reception to follow at Knights of Columbus Hall.
