John Heberling

John Heberling, 94, went to meet his Lord on April 24, 2006. Coming as an infant from Belgrade, Yugoslavia, John passed through Ellis Island with his parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Wirth Heberling in 1911. A master barber and hair stylist, John worked in Moline, Ill., for 39 years, coming to Fort Collins in 1981. John and his devoted wife, Sophia, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary April 13, 2006, with the dedicated staff at Windsor Health Care Center, where John was a resident the past eight months. John is also survived by his son, John David and wife, Jane; daughter, Sandra Elizabeth and husband, Doug; and grandchildren, Angele Price, of Los Gatos, Calif., Jennifer O'Hearn, of Tuscola, Ill., Johnna Heberling, of Bailey, and Joshua Heberling, of Moline, Ill.; and three great-grandchildren, Katie, Kara and Ellis Sophia. A dedicated Christian, John served as a Gideon for more than 60 years, a deacon for 40 years and was a longtime Sunday school teacher. For decades, John quietly offered his barbering services each month to the Andover Children's Home, an orphanage in Andover, Ill. A member of the Evangelical Free Church in Moline, Ill., John joined the First Baptist Church of Fort Collins in 1982. John loved this country, golfing and most of all, his God.
