On Wednesday, September 28, 2022, John Mitchell Hatfield, passed away. Born to Elizabeth J. Snyder Hatfield and Glenn Wilson Hatfield in Kansas City, Kansas, John attended Wyandotte High School and then went on to graduate from Emporia State University with a Bachelor of Business degree. After college, he joined the Navy and then moved on to a long and successful career at Honeywell and Sun Microsystems. He is survived by his partner of 23 years, Roger Miller, and many beloved family members.
Generosity, broad-minded acceptance, and an easy, warm and congenial nature characterized John's life. For John and Roger, raised respectively in Kansas and Texas, Colorado seems even now like Shangri-La. The three years brought increasingly less mobility for John, but they also brought the glow of a life well-lived and well-loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8th, at 2 pm at Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive Street in Fort Collins, Colorado.
In his memory, donations may be made to the Human Rights Campaign, a charity near and dear to John's heart.
In 2023, there will be an additional celebration of John's life at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, that friends and family are welcome to attend. More information on this will be available next year.
