John S. Goldey

John Stuart Goldey, 93, of Aurora formerly of Fort Collins, died June 17, 2013. He was born May 19, 1920 in Brooklyn, NY to his American Father, Harry Stuart Goldey and his English Mother, Elsie Milicent Bower. John spent the next 18 years in London, England, followed by 3 years in Lausanne, Switzerland. During WWII his family sent him to the United States where he continued his education at M.I.T. and graduated in 1941. John's career started by working on the Manhattan Project until 1946. He then was employed by Eastman Kodak Co. as an engineer in Rochester, N.Y. and Windsor, CO where he retired February 1983 after 39 years. John was a former member of the Rochester Yacht Club, Ft. Collins Country Club and the Ft. Collins Rotary Club. John's many interests included sailing, tennis, golf, skiing, and model railroading, travel, and spending time on his computer. He loved working in his yard, tending to his garden and as a result became a Master Gardener. John is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Thornton Goldey married 43 years; daughter, Deborah LaBoon Phillip; three granddaughters, Marcy Loughran Kevin, Kym Whitney Neil, and Sarah Leitch; four great grandchildren, Casey Loughran 6, Hudson Loughran 2, Landon Whitney 13, Calin Whitney 11; three step-children, Mark Leitch Jan, Cindy Nesbitt, and David Leitch; sister/brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Grele and their son, Jonathon, and brother-in-law, John Williams. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Bohlender Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Prostate Cancer Research in care of Bohlender Funeral Chapel, 121 W. Olive, Fort Collins, Colorado 80524.
