John DeCourcey, 68, of Fort Collins, Colorado, died on September 14, 2016. John was born to Cornelius Henry DeCourcey & Ladonna Marie Kempf DeCourcey, in Buffalo, WY. His early years were spent on his family's Hereford ranch, the Bar None, in Sussex, WY. His family moved to Colorado Springs when John was 9 years old after his Dad died. After graduating from Palmer High School, he joined the Navy during the Vietnam War where he was a aircraft mechanic. After the Navy, he went on to study Fine Arts at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. John was an accomplished wood worker and spent many years working in a trade that he loved. He was also a gifted painter and enjoyed painting those he loved, whether it be his wife, his daughter or one of his beloved horses. He met Rita, the love of his life, in Gillette, Wyoming and they married on April 30, 1978. The had 38 years together in which they raised their daughter, Lindsay.
He is survived by his wife, Rita DeCourcey, and daughter, Lindsay; brother, Tom; and sister, Jeanette. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to John's favorite Christian Charity, Jewish Voice Ministries International.
