John I. Boxberger passed away peacefully on April 20, 2015 at Poudre Valley Hospital with his family by his side.

John was born on August 29, 1927 to John and Jennie (Krieter) Boxberger. He was raised on a farm in the Fort Collins area. After graduating from Fort Collins High School he joined the US Army, stationed in South Korea. After returning from the service to his country, he attended Colorado A&M.

December 18, 1949 he married Elsie Kraft, the love of his life, who preceded him in death in 2011. Together they owned and operated a farm in the Fort Collins area all of their lives.
Love of God and being a servant to the church were very important to him. John served Poudre Valley Rural Electric Board of Directors for 30 years (1976–2006), served on the Western United Electric Supply Corporation, National Affiliate Life Insurance, and was a member of Elks and American Legion.

John was a loving, caring, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Always giving of himself with special love and attention always given to each of his kids, grand kids, and great grand kids. He enjoyed farming and teaching his grandsons to drive a tractor, work hard, having ethics in business dealings, and that family is always first and foremost. He was always more than happy to give the kids a ride in his combine.

Preceded to death by his wife, Elsie Kraft, his brothers Harold Boxberger, Charles Boxberger, Ted Boxberger, and his parents John and Jennie Boxberger.

Those left to honor John's loving memory are his son, John Richard Boxberger of Fort Collins; daughter, Beverly and Allan Meyer of Fort Collins; grandson, John Robert and Jen Boxberger of Fort Collins, Ronald and Shannon Meyer of Freeland Michigan, Brent Meyer and fiancé, Kelly Bell of Wellington, Brad and Ashley Meyer of Fort Collins; and step grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Meyer and Nathan Meyer; great grandchildren: John Ryan Boxberger, Michael Boxberger, Ashlyn Meyer, Brock Meyer, and Brianna Meyer and step great grandchildren, Jessica Ward, Claire Boxberger and Orion Ward; sisters: Dorothy Sutherland, Frieda (Ben) Weitzel; sister-in laws, Lucille Kraft, Leona Schick, Rose Boxberger and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Timberline Church, 2908 S. Timberline Rd. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
