After fighting a courageous battle against cancer, Joel Painter, 51, passed away on January 4th.
One of the many things that Joel will be remembered for is his sense of humor. When explaining what the effects of chemo might look like, he told his staff that his arms might fall off and he'll have to type up his reports using his nose-that should make the reports readable for a change. He rode his bike to the Cancer Center, raced motocross, and skied more than 40 days last season. This year was the first time in over 30 years he didn't buy a season pass.
He will also be remembered for the passion and dedication he had for the children who came through the Jacob Center. Joel was their advocate and loudest supporter and did what was necessary to get their physical, emotional, and academic needs met.
Joel will be missed by the hundreds of people he connected with through the Jacob Center and Rem House, skiing in Steamboat, indoor and outdoor soccer teams, the motocross family, the review board at CSU-the man was always busy.
He also leaves behind a daughter, Katie, son, Seth, former wife, Lori, brothers Brett and Lance, sister-in-law Tiffany, significant other Stephanne Sloane Turner, and many other friends and family. He was loved. He will be missed.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 11, 2019 at Bohlender Funereal Chapel. Friends may send condolences to the family at bohlenderfuneralchapel.com.
