Joe Al Rodriguez, 96, passed away at home in Walden, Colorado on May 10, 2013. Al was born May 2, 1917 in San Luis, Colorado to Alfred and Amelia Rodriguez. He lived in the San Luis Valley for a short time then moved to North Park. Al served in the Army from 1942-1945. Al was a business owner in Walden for over 60 years. He owned and operated the Park Theater and The Center. Al also worked at the Michigan River saw mill and for Ozark Mine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Al enjoyed being around people, caring for the Senior Center, and playing card. Al would play cards with anyone who came into the Center and was willing to play. He loved watching sports whether it was on TV or in person. He especially loved watching the North Park Wildcats. He coached Little League Baseball, and would give coaching advice to the kids on the school team even if they didn't ask for it. His greatest pleasure was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Al was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; sisters, Francis Rodriguez and Miki Woodard; and brothers Joe, Adolf and Ed Rodriguez. Al is survived by sons, Rodney and wife, Pat, Gary and wife, Debra; and daughter, Sissie Jenkins and husband, Doyle; sisters, Elsie Romero, and Maude Eskew ; sister-in-laws, Florance Mathew, Lois Rich, Thelma Alley; and bother-in-law, Ed Ross; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, . A dessert potluck Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the North Park High School Gym from 2-4 pm.
